Still in pursuit of more knowledge of and feel for grip limits, I accepted a last-minute offer of a course with Gary Marsh at Abingdon Airfield, just south of Oxford. I know Gary through the Porsche Club of Great Britain and had attended a talk by him on driver training earlier in the week. His coaching organisation is called A Need For Speed and he offers various performance driving courses that are geared to your exact requirements.

In the afternoon we joined a very busy motorsport-events.com track day on another part of the airfield. Gary was quite impressed with how quickly I was able to learn the course – although movement of cones meant we never actually drove the same track more than once!
