My times had been steadily improving and from a moderately decent result in qualifying, I managed to put myself on row 5 of the grid. Unfortunately I made another relatively poor start and a few of the Boxsters behind got the jump on me on the run up to Copse. And I didn’t benefit from Mike Sellar’s brief exit at Brooklands as he jumped back onto the circuit just in front of me. I did get close to catching superior Class B-pedeller Steve Potts and team-mate Paul Moraviek, but then made a slight mistake at a corner or two enabling them to pull away. I decided to back off a little until the tail end of the 924s came into view and then determined to lap as many of them as I could before the finish.

I finished 12th out of a field of 23 but unfortunately – again – I was still last in class. Not too disappointed though as my lap times have been going in the right direction all weekend. Roll on Sunday (tomorrow) where, for the first time in the series, we have a second qualifying session before Race 2.
