Sunday’s race was at least drier but ironically landed me one less point than yesterday’s race, simply because more Class A Boxsters actually finished!
I didn’t manage as good a start as Saturday and the two quicker drivers, who were forced to start on a grid row behind me simply because they had DNFs from the day before, had caught and passed me by the time we reached Aintree Corner. But I was determined to stay ahead of the two Class B Boxsters, Julian and Rebecca, who were having their own little battle behind me. Sadly (or possibly, for me, fortunately) Rebecca span on the way out of Woodcote and I started to pull away from Julian leaving me on my own until I started to catch and pass the slowest of the 924s. I was unable to match the pace I’d achieved in Friday’s free practice session so finished last in class again, but this time 11th in the overall field of 23 finishers.
Due to family commitments, I now miss the next round of the Porsche Championship, meaning my next race will be the first of my guest appearances in the 750MC MR2 Championship on Sunday 30th June on the Donington GP circuit.
